Mould for making counterfeit coins (denarii); Newstead (Trimontium), Scottish Borders. Ceramic mould from the end of a stack of such moulds used for making counterfeit coins. One face has the impression of a denarius of Antoninus Pius. Broken on one edge from removal of the coin. Found at Newstead (Trimontium) and brought to the museum by the late John Casey of Durham University many years ago.
